Pablo Medina: Bushwick — The Typeface

ADC Young Guns 3 winner crowdfunds a new Brooklyn-centric font

The Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick has been on the rise in recent years, its vibrant art and design scene snatching some the shine that had once been reserved for nearby Williamsburg. One of the artists who has set up shop in the area is renowned designer and ADC Young Guns 3 winner Pablo Medina. Pablo has been so enthralled by all of the things that make his neighborhood awesome that he condensed it all into the form of a brand new typeface — named Bushwick, naturally.

As any designer knows, creating a real, working font takes time and resources, and so Pablo is crowdfunding the Bushwick Typeface project on Indiegogo. “Independent typeface design is a process that requires two things: time and proper funding,” he says. “With your contribution, you will help us finish the expanded version of Bushwick the typeface executed completely independently of commercial limitations.”
