Let’s face it, industry award shows could do a far better job of bridging the gender gap when it comes to selecting their juries. The advertising and design fields have tons of talented women, but when it comes time to putting them on a jury, the results are less than satisfactory.
Last year, by way of the Let’s Make The Industry 50/50 Initiative, ADC was proud to announce that for the first time in its near century-long history, we achieved an equal balance of men and women across all of our juries for the ADC Annual Awards and Tomorrow Awards.
And this year we’ve done it again.
And not only are our juries “50/50” this year, but three of the five jury chairs are women; the ADC 94th Annual Awards Design Jury is chaired by Gael Towey, Founder of Gael Towey & Co.; the Motion Jury is chaired by Michelle Dougherty of Imaginary Forces; and the Tomorrow Awards Monster Judges are chaired by Leslie Berland, Executive Vice President, Digital Partnerships and Development at American Express.
Of course it doesn’t matter who is on the jury if you don’t submit your work to them on time! The deadline for the Design, Illustration, Photography and Motion categories has been extended to this Friday, January 23. Subsequent deadlines are as follows:
- ADC Annual Awards Digital categories: January 23
- ADC Annual Awards Student categories: January 30
- ADC Annual Awards Advertising categories: February 2
- ADC Tomorrow Awards: February 2
