Jayson Atienza: “David’s World”

ADC Young Guns 5 winner immortalizes ad legend Ogilvy with mural

In the “Mad Men” era of advertising, few people have had more impact than the legendary David Ogilvy. From his “the man in the Hathaway shirt” and Dove’s “1/4 moisturizing cream” to Confessions of an Advertising Man, he casts a long shadow over generations of advertising professionals. David’s name graces the walls of 450 offices across the globe, and now his face does the same on one wall at  Ogilvy & Mather Shanghai‘s new digs, thanks to creative director/art director/artist and ADC Young Guns 5 winner Jayson Atienza.

“David is an undisputed advertising icon, and this piece, David’s World, immortalizes his enormous influence upon the industry,” says Graham Fink, CCO of Ogilvy China.

This mural is akin to a puzzle, through Jayson’s signature style, which utilizes a meticulous ink pattern. Woven within this mural are numerous consumer goods that his agency has championed throughout the decades, as a testament to the continuing depth of success that David Ogilvy began. His firm is legendary, and so is he.
