Help the Victims of Gentrification

Brooklyn-based design studio Franklyn donates work to small businesses

Our good friends at Franklyn (the gentlemen who lovingly designed and built the website you’re currently perusing) are at it again — this time, in support of Brooklyn’s struggling Mom & Pop shops.

A word from Creative Director Michael Freimuth (ADC Young Guns 8) and Franklyn Co-founder Patrick Richardson:

“New York City (especially our neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn) is gentrifying at a rapid pace. As big business moves in, the small businesses that give our neighborhoods character often struggle to compete and pay rent as real estate values skyrocket.

“While we don’t oppose big business, we would like to help level the playing field a bit so that the two can co-exist.”

While we don’t oppose big business, we would like to help level the playing field a bit so that the two can co-exist. The Save Our Mom and Pops (S.O.M.P.) program aims to do just that by providing deserving small businesses with pro-bono design and marketing help. The Mission Main Street Grant would allow us to fund this worthy initiative. Vote for us! (Warning: Facebook account required.)”
