ADC is excited to announce the grand return of Hands On, in partnership with Ace Hotel and The Breslin! Instead of lectures or speaking engagements, Hands On endeavors to have ADC Members, Young Guns winners and other creative professionals lead small workshops designed to have you honing your skills and developing new ones in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. By the end of each workshop, you will have learned a few new techniques and made some new friends and contacts.
On Sunday, April 2, award-winning photographer and ADC Member Ahmed Klink hosts ADC Hands On: Catch Me Outside, a workshop on the art of street photography. Gain insights into the process of creating compelling cinematic images in the Concrete Jungle.
Beginning with an introduction of Ahmed’s personal work and a retrospective of his personal heroes: this workshop will have participants engaging in conversations about photographic language and thinking. Aided by Ahmed, attendees will then decide on which subjects to shoot on the streets; colors, lights and shadow will be your guide in capturing the urban wild.
Afterwards, we will explore New York’s Gramercy individually and in groups, capturing what you see through the lens of what you have learned.
Late in the afternoon, we will return to the Ace Hotel for review and group critique of the work we have created that day. And since this is the Ace, we can celebrate the day’s accomplisments at their famous bar!
Please bring your weapons of choice (iPhones, DSLRs P&Ss, Polaroids etc.) to shoot, as well as a few samples of your own work in this genre (printed or digital). We will discuss these images during the workshop.
Tickets for this Hands On workshop are $150.00 each, but ADC and One Club Members can purchase a ticket for only $75.00.
To ensure the “hands on” aspect, all Hands On workshops have limited space available.
