Daniel Savage Brings the Fire

ADC Young Guns X winner's "Yule Log 2.0" collabo now in its fourth year

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And while most people settle in for A Charlie Brown Christmas or a Rankin/Bass program, around these parts, our favorite animated holiday special is Brooklyn-based animation director and ADC Young Guns X winner Dan Savage‘s “Yule 2.0“. Now in its fourth year, it’s quickly becoming a yuletide tradition.

For the uninitiated, Dan has been inviting animators and other artists to reimagine those endless loops of fireplace footage that have graced TV screens for decades. This year, nearly 1000 artists applied to participate, a list that was eventually whittled down to a few dozen, courtesy of a panel of judges that included fellow ADC Young Guns winners Michelle Higa Fox (YG7) and Jorge R. Canedo Estrada (YG12).

This year’s series also has a few added benefits: a viewing party taking place in Brooklyn next Monday; as well as a charitable cause. The artists are raising money for Camp Interactive in the Bronx. It’s a place where underserved kids can learn about technology and coding — and maybe become future Yule Log creators.

You can check out all of this year’s incredible animations right here, but we wanted to highlight a few of the ADC Members and Young Guns who made the cut.
