Build Kindness, Not Walls

Jessica Walsh and Timothy Goodman stand up to hate in the era of Trump

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen the rise of mogul Donald “Build a Wall” Trump as a serious (if divisive) presidential candidate. Unless you’ve been living under a poorly designed, aesthetically challenged rock, you’ve seen 12 Kinds of Kindness, the latest social experiment by superstar designers and ADC Young Guns winners Jessica Walsh and Timothy Goodman. Yesterday morning, both of these things came together in front of Manhattan’s Trump Tower, as volunteers held up a “wall” of placards calling for kindness.

The wall was inspired by an idea by School of Visual Arts advertising student Isabelle Griffioen, and came together over the course of several weeks.

“This is bigger than just Trump,” reads Jessica and Tim’s latest blog post. “This is about the DNA of our country. This is about the systematic racism and sexism that still exists every day.”
