Conor Clarke
Director, Design Factory
Conor Clarke is a designer and educator. He is Director of Design Factory, one of Ireland’s leading graphic design practices. He is also Head of Visual Communication at the National College of Art and Design. Leading change and development at the NCAD Visual Communication department, he is part of a dynamic team moving the course towards a more research based, human-centred design approach.
As a design advocate, he has consistently contributed to the promotion of design in Ireland through his activities with ICAD (Institute of Creative Advertising and Design) and the IDI (Institute of Designers in Ireland). He regularly organises talks and exhibitions in Dublin with leading international design practitioners.
His books include Oranje & Green, Ireland-Holland Design Connections, 1951 – 2002 (author) and Design Factory On the Edge of Europe (author: MaryAnn Bolger) both published by BIS in Amsterdam. Articles on his design practice have appeared in Graphis magazine, The New York Art Director’s Annual, Who’s Who in Graphic Design and Worldwide Identity: Inspired Design from 40 Countries (Icograda). His work has been featured in exhibitions in Dublin, London, Maastricht, Milan, New York and Havana.
As Director at Design Factory, Conor specialises in strategy and design for brands, products and services. Examples include Aer Lingus Young Scientists, Central Statistics Office (CSO), Dublin Airport Authority, Chartered Accountants Ireland, Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), National College of Art & Design (NCAD), National Gallery of Ireland, National Symphony Orchestra, National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) and the Road Safety Authority (RSA).
