Renda Morton

Product Design Director – Web Platform, The New York Times

Renda Morton is a product design director at The New York Times. She leads a team that crafts the user experience and strategy of innovative digital products which advance storytelling and provide new services to Times readers. Renda was a design lead on the redesign of NYTimes.com, launched in 2014.

Before joining the Times, she founded and ran a small, multi-disciplinary design studio called Rumors. The studio worked on a wide range of projects, including websites, identities, exhibitions and books. Rumors prepared publishers for coming changes in digital book distribution, implemented strategies for editorial clients moving into digital first publishing, and lead businesses in the use design for long-term growth.

Before moving to New York ten years ago, Renda worked on physical interactive media at a design studio called Lust in The Netherlands. She holds a BFA in Interactive Media from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Renda has taught design at Parsons, Maryland Institute College of Art and
