Lu Chekowsky

SVP Brand Creative, Comedy Central

Lu joined Comedy Central as SVP Brand Creative in December, 2014. She leads Comedy Central’s in-house creative team, overseeing the development of all branding and marketing creative across every platform for the channel and has lead creative development on campaigns for: the relaunch of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber, Inside Amy Schumer, Drunk History, Broad City, South Park, Key and Peele, Another Period, and other CC franchises.

Previously Lu worked at MTV as VP Creative Director, overseeing successful creative campaigns for hit shows such as Teen Wolf, Awkward, and Catfish and for MTV mainstays like the The Jersey Shore, The Real World and Teen Mom — as well as for the network’s tent-pole events — The Video Music Awards, the MTV Movie Awards and the channel’s 2012 Election initiative, “The Power of ’12.” She won an Emmy for her contributions to the “Get Yourself Tested” pro-social campaign in 2014 and also worked to help launch the lauded anti-bias initiative “Look Different,” for the channel.

For seven years, prior to joining MTV in 2011, Lu was a Creative Director and Copywriter at Wieden+Kennedy, the world’s largest independently owned creative advertising agency, leading and contributing to global campaigns for brands as varied as Brand Jordan, Nike, Talbots, Noxzema, St. Ives, Delta Airlines, Sharp, Cole Haan, Proctor+Gamble, The Ghetto Film School, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Lu is an awarded creative, receiving accolades from Promax, Creativity, The One Club, The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and The Effies. She volunteers with Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, a summer camp that empowers girls through music and before advertising, she was a lot of other things: a stand-up comic, a burlesque fire dancer, a relationship columnist, a telephone psychic, and a tram-driving emcee on the backstage tour at Disney/MGM Studios.
