Michele Outland

Creative Director, Gather Journal

Michele Outland is the Creative Director and co-founder of Gather Journal, a recipe-based food magazine launched in June 2012. Since its launch Gather Journal has garnered a James Beard Award for Visual Storytelling and five Society of Publication Designers Gold Medals including the prize for Independent Magazine for 2012 and 2013. Her varied background includes designing and helping to launch both Everyday Food, the digest-sized magazine published by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and Domino Magazine, the cult favorite shelter magazine published by Condé Nast. She has also held staff positions or worked for Martha Stewart Living, The New York Times Magazine, NYLON Magazine, and New York Magazine. She holds a BFA Graphic Design degree from Rhode island School of Design and an MA in Communication Design from London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
