Leo Macias has worked in the advertising market since 1992. He worked at Ogilvy Colombia handling Latin America.
He moved to Brazil, worked at Publicis for 7 years and then was hired as Creative Director at Talent, a key local agency.
Next he joined Z+ (Havas Group) as General Creative Director. In 10 months at Z+ he won awards at London, the GP at Latam Media Festival and at Cannes 2011 (16 short lists and 3 lions).
In 2011, back at Publicis as Creative Director, he was responsible for Nestlé, P&G Latin America, SBT Channel, Sony Channel, among others, aiming to improve their creative quality and profits.
Today, he works at DM9DDB as a Creative Director and is responsible for Johnson’s & Johnson’s, Itaú Bank, BRF Foods, Intel, among others.
He has won some of the most important awards at Cannes – in 2006, he won the only press gold lion for Brazil -, totaling 14 lions and 86 short lists. He has also won 3 One Show’s, 3 Golds at London Festival, 3 New York Festivals, 5 Golds, 6 Silvers and 3 Bronzes at FIAP, 4 Golds and 3 Silvers for El Ojo, Gold at Sao Paulo Creative Club, many Abril Publisher Awards, Gold and 2 Silvers and the Grand Prix at Rio Festival. Besides that, he has had his work acknowledged by top magazines like Archive and Shots. In 2010, he was one of the nominees for the prize Caboré – Creative Professional of the Year.
He has been a juror in major international festivals. In 2009, he proudly represented Brazil in Cannes Festival as a press juror, the most important category for the country. He is also the only person in history to have been juror in three different categories at FIAP, radio, outdoor and design, having been president of the jury in two of them. Over the last 6 years he has been juror in CCSP (Sao Paulo Creative Director Club), one of which as president, El Ojo and Wave Festival, among others. Throughout his career he has been invited to give lectures in several countries including at Cannes Festival 2014.
