Artists Team Up To Make The Industry 50/50

Five ADC Members use their creative powers for good

It’s always refreshing to see ADC Members working together. Even better when the project is fueled by a good cause — one that has the power to change the creative industry as a whole. Today we’re excited to unveil the official anthem video for the Let’s Make The Industry 50/50 Initiative, created by five members of the ADC Community.

Started in 2013 and inspired by several connections made right here at the Club, this 50/50 anthem video is a perfect example of how casual networking can turn into action.

The Let’s Make The Industry 50/50 Initiative was founded by ADC with a mission to bring equal gender representation to the creative industry, especially award show juries, boards of directors, and event/speaker lineups. Highlighting the wealth of qualified women in senior positions throughout all facets of the creative communications industries, the initiative and its directory are bringing important balance to the conversation and laying a foundation for future generations of female talent.

California-born, Brooklyn-based designer and letterer Lauren Hom kicked off the video project with her playful letterforms and colorful style to illustrate the 50/50 Initiative’s mission.

Then her fellow ADC Members Rachel Nye Levine and Dorca Musseb — both graduates of the School of Visual Arts and currently animators for Comedy Central — breathed life into that mission through motion graphics.

Meanwhile, New York-based motion designer and ADC Member Daniel Belay wrapped up the project with a fun and simple ID system based on the 50/50 branding created by Ayesha Mathews-Wadhwa of PIXINK.

The voiceover came straight from the heart of Jennifer Larkin Kuzler — ADC’s own Director of Awards Programs, and a founding committee member of the 50/50 Initiative.

“Creatives have a lot of power in this industry. The power to make things that never existed before. And the tenacity to influence the world. It’s our obligation as a community to use those powers for good.”
