Alex Trochut

— A Shot in the Dark: Binary Printing

Alex-Trochut_300x300Alex Trochut was born in 1981 in Barcelona, studied Graphic Design at Elisava, and started working as a freelance illustrator in 2007. He won the prestigious ADC Young Guns 6 award in 2008.

Alex Trochut’s illustrations, designs and typography take the modern notion of minimalism and flip it on its side. Trochut’s work philosophy is “More is more.” It is rich with elegant, brilliantly detailed executions that simultaneously convey indulgence and careful, restrained control. Trochut is driven by a desire to constantly evolve which can be seen in his eidetic body of work.

Trochut lives between Barcelona and Brooklyn.

Trochut invented a process in which two completely separate images could be shown on one surface – one which appears in light, and one which appears only in dark. He calls this process “Binary Printing.” In this course, he thoroughly describes his techniques and methodology so you can come up with your own new ideas and techniques.
